Jeena Mathew is a Portfolio Manager on the Global Health Innovations team at Grand Challenges Canada and manages the OPTions Initiative portfolio of investments.
Jeena has global health research, program development and implementation experience, working across non-governmental organisations, academic institutions and research centers in Canada, US, Kenya, South Africa and India. Prior to joining GCC, she worked at The SickKids Centre for Global Child Health supporting grant activities for an infant nutrition intervention in Bangladesh. She has previously worked on a demand creation program in Somaliland where she designed, tested and implemented innovative family planning, antenatal care and nutrition interventions. She conducted extensive research in sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, human centered design and health financing.
Jeena completed a Master’s in Bioengineering at the University of Texas and worked in cancer molecular biology at Georgetown University prior to obtaining her MPH degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
