The project will expand Projet Jeune Leader’s model of school-based youth-led comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) for adolescents (10-14 years) in public middle schools in Vakinankaratra region of Madagascar. Traditional school-based initiatives which rely on institutionalized teacher-led delivery have failed to make any significant impact due to insufficient and piecemeal curricula, and lack of confidence, skills, and time among existing teachers. Project Jeune Leader’s youth-oriented model is based on recruiting and training dynamic young adults (18-25 years) as the main service delivery providers of CSE. These young CSE educators are then placed in public middle schools where they work full-time as educators, counselors, and mentors to adolescent students (10-14 years) over the course of the school year. CSE educators will establish partnerships with health centers around each school and provide referral tickets to students who require medical/specialized SRH attention.
